KARACHI: Lady Health Workers (LHWs) held a protest in Karachi in support of their demands for better remuneration on Wednesday.
Police fire teargas shells and resorted to lathi-charge after the LHWs tried to march toward Governor House. Some of the protesters incurred injuries.
Earlier, hundreds of LHWs gathered outside the press club and chanted slogans in support of their demands.
The peaceful protest turned violent when police beat up marchers to stop them from going to Governor House.
Police say they tried to stop protesters from entering the Red Zone.
The LHWs threatened to continue the protest if their demands were not met. SAMAA
