Real Madrid vs AC Milan, Arsenal vs Basel, Barcelona vs Napoli - the seeded & unseeded clubs for the Champions League last-16 draw and who the teams can face
The next phase of the 2011-12 Champions League will begin this Friday as the fixtures for the last 16 will be determined. With three Italian teams, two each from England, Spain, Germany, France and Russia, and sole survivors from Portugal, Switzerland and Cyprus, the first knockout round of Europe's blue-ribbon club competition will have a nice spread of representation across the continent.
The remaining 16 teams in the competition will be split into two pots: group winners will be seeded, and the group runners-up will be unseeded.

For the round of 16, group winners must be drawn against group runners-up. However, teams who had previously met during the group stage cannot be drawn against one another. Similarly, clubs from the same association cannot face each other even if they are in opposing seeds.
Here are all the potential rivals that each of the 16 teams can be drawn against.

Here's what we know so far. The two clubs from the Premier League cannot meet the two sides from La Liga. Inter will have the fewest options but on paper also the easiest, Milan and Marseille have the trickiest possible selection of rivals amongst the past champions, while Arsenal and Barcelona only have one former champion that they could face.
