Fire fighters fire fighter in Hollywood


LOS ANGELES: An arsonist swept the Hollywood area under cover of darkness early Friday, setting fire to vehicles whose flames ignited nearby houses, including one occupied by the Doors singer Jim Morrison.The four hours attack began shortly after midnight and sent firefighters battle to extinguish fires in 22 locations in Hollywood and the neighboring city of West Hollywood. In almost all cases, the fire started in a parked car.Authorities excluded any possible link with terrorism while bracing for another round of fire and continue the search for a suspect.Dozens people were rousted from their homes, power was disrupted in several areas and the Los Angeles Police were alerted in the Hollywood area. A city firefighter was treated and released from a hospital after a fall from a ladder while fighting against a fire. No other injuries were reported.All fires were on Friday in an area of 2-square-mile, and most were located in densely populated residential neighborhoods, where residents are likely to be asleep.
