North Korea's Kim Jong A name of the supreme military commander

Kim Jong Un, son of the late leader Kim Jong-il, should be the "single point of unity, cohesion and leadership" of the Workers Party, North Korea's state media, adding that the country must meet Kim Jong Il military-first policy. The decision was taken at a meeting unexpectedly Friday Office of the powerful Central Committee Political Workers' Party, a day after Memorial Kim Jong Il has ended.Stern warningMeanwhile on Friday, North Korea warned the "foolish politicians in the world" there will be no change in policy toward South Korea, or North's nuclear program, as its new leader, Kim Jung UN takes great power after the death of his father."We solemnly declare with confidence," said the National Defense Commission (NDC) in a statement, "the South Korean puppet politicians and fools around the world should not expect a change."And he said he would "never deal with the group of traitor Lee Myung-Bak," president of the South. But adding confusion to an otherwise hard-line, the NDC said it would "continue to push hard towards improving relations."Difficult transitionAt a ceremony two days in Pyongyang, North Koreans bid farewell to their leader of 17 years, Kim Jong Il, on Wednesday and Thursday. The ceremony was given a first test of his youngest son and successor, Kim Jung UN, which is considered inexperienced, and inspired analysts wstern to express uncertainty and the question of what is its mandate.Statement Friday is the response of North Korea."It is also raising the stakes," said Koh Yu-hwan, Dongguk University in Seoul. "Thus, if the South wants better relations, Pyongyang can extract more concessions."South Korea's Unification Ministry said it would also maintain its current policy and not to react to every statement of the North.Frosty by a design

Inter-Korean ties have been cold since February 2008, when President Lee took office and related future economic aid to the North with its progress towards nuclear disarmament.President Lee made a point of breaking with the policy of his country's unpopular Sunshine north, offering a harder line than the one presented by his predecessor, Roh Moo-hyun.Since then, relations have deteriorated further.Pyongyang has repeatedly been accused of causing Seoul with missile tests at long range. And in 2010, he was also charged - by Seoul and others in the international community - have torpedoed a South Korean naval vessel, killing 46 sailors. He denies any involvement. In the same year, the North has justified its bombardment of Yeonpyeong Island South saying it was caused by a live fire exercise conducted jointly by the South and the United States near the border of North and South Korea Yellow Sea.He was the first direct act of aggression since the Korean civil war.Technically, the two Koreas remain at war because a peace agreement was never formally accepted.Succession, Kim Jung UN as a great leader of North Korea has raised fears that the plan may desire to reassert his authority with a new act of aggression.Author: Zulfikar Abbany, David Levitz (AFP, AP, DPA, Reuters)Editor: Ben Knight
