Gazprom CEO Alexej Miller is believed to have met with Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and president Uli Hoeness to discuss a potential investment deal, according to Suddeutsche Zeitung.
The Russian company is considering stepping into the German energy market, and rumour has it that they are eyeing a partnership with the Bavarian giants.
It is reported that Gazprom is trying to boost its image in order to get public support for its plans to build gas power plants.
Neither side have made any official statements on the matter, but word from Germany is that Bayern are ready to engage in a deal.
Gazprom has been the sponsor of fellow Bundesliga side Schalke since early 2007, and the agreement with the Ruhr-based side was extended to 2017 in May earlier this year.
