NEW YORK: Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan in the UN Security Council, Raza Bashir Tarar on Monday protested against the Nato attack on Pakistani post and termed it as gross violation of UN Charter, Geo News reported. While taking part in the Security Council s debate on United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), Raza Tarar said the Nato attack on Pakistan border post on 26 November 2011, which resulted in martyrdom of 25 soldiers, was a grave incident. It constituted a transgression of Pakistan s territorial integrity and a flagrant violation of the UN Charter. He said Pakistan is committed to peace, stability and development in Afghanistan and therefore, Pakistan cannot be held responsible for the problems and the challenges afflicting Afghanistan.Tarar said Pakistan looks forward to contribute, as effectively as possible, in an environment free from recrimination and blame-game and on the basis of mutual respect and trust.?Speculative statements made in a knee-jerk reaction vitiate the atmosphere and erode mutual trust. Such blame-game must stop.?He said Pakistan hopes that the review of UNAMA s mandate will enable the UN to make more meaningful contributions to peace and development of Afghanistan.
