Kerry Washington believes that women in movies are often just 'the accessory' to the male story.
The actress has starred in a number of huge film hits including Ray, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Fantastic Four and The Last King of Scotland.
However, Kerry often feels like a secondary character compared to her male counterparts.
'So often as women, you're playing the accessory to a story that is really dominated by a male narrative,' she said in an interview with the British publication The Independent.
Kerry has become more recognised in the industry and she is determined to find roles with greater depth.
In her most recent film Mother and Child, she plays a woman going through the adoption process. Kerry was drawn to the inclusive message of the movie.
