Hugh Hefner admits that Lindsay Lohan photo shoot was not his idea and that he had ‘mixed emotions’ about it

Although Lindsay Lohan canceled her interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about her Playboy photo shoot and will not be doing any more interviews about it herself, that has not stopped Playboy founder Hugh Hefner from talking about it.
In an interview with E! News, the 85-year-old said that the photo spread was not his idea, admitting that it was his editors in Chicago who approached him with the idea. At first he was apprehensive about it.
"It really came as a surprise to me....I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially, and then it turned into something bigger than life," Hefner said. He also admitted that he wasn’t sure about "where she was at in her life, obviously....It depends on whether it's Tuesday or Thursday."
The New York Times reports that Hefner confirmed that he did order her to have the Marilyn Monroe-inspired photos re-shot before Lohan did her 5-hour jail stint.
Hefner also took credit for the Monroe-inspired makeup and poses, which was also a tribute to Monroe’s photo spread that graced the first issue of the magazine. "She had done semi-nudes before. I wanted to do something that would be memorable," he said. "So what is more natural, since she is a huge fan of Marilyn Monroe, than do something that is a tribute to the red-velvet, Tom Kelley photo shoot of Marilyn Monroe that was our very first Playmate?"
Finally, Hefner says that he is happy with the finished product, adding confidently, "People will not forget this pictorial."
The issue hits newsstands 10 days earlier than planned, coming out before Christmas.

While Hefner may approve, apparently 2010 Playmate of the Year Hope Dworaczyk doesn't.
