Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said that Lindsay Lohan’s recent shoot for the magazine was a last-minute choice.
The issue arrived on stands Friday.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Hefner claimed that he was disappointed with Lohan’s initial photos.
"I saw the results of the first day of shooting and it was not what I was looking for," he said. "[Lindsay] hadn't bared it all in the first one and she looked like she had just come out of rehab....She looked like she just got up in the morning.
"I wanted her to do something that would be truly unforgettable."
Lohan’s looks in the issue resemble those of actress Marilyn Monroe, who posed for the magazine in 1953.
There was some hesitation about the actress being in the nude, but Hefner explained that the shoot was a tribute to Monroe and others who posed at the time.
"Marilyn Monroe's comment after the original shoot was, when they asked what she was wearing, [she] said, 'All I had on was the radio.' All Lindsay Lohan had on during this was the radio!" he said.
Hefner also admitted his own initial reluctance at having Lohan, who was known more for her legal trouble than her movies in recent years, pose for his magazine, but he later had a change of heart.
